Something frightened Ghanada to such an extent that he left his room, screaming in fear. After the other boarders reached the room, they found a common variety of insect dead under the bed. As the others started laughing, Ghanada came up with yet another story of his adventure, to justify his fear. He described how he had started his journey from Riga, the capital of Latvia, and then had traveled through the African forests in search of an insect, called Schistocerca gregaria.
The story is about two Jewish brothers General Vornoff and Jacob Rothstein who got separated and lived two very different lives. While Vornoff became a true Prussian to escape anti-Semitic oppression and Jacob remained a loyal Jew and was determined to take revenge. The former was Ghanada’s friend, whom he had met during one of his hunting expeditions. They had sailed hundreds of miles in the river Naipar, went to Congo, and lived among the Masais. This friend had asked Ghanada to stop his Jewish brother, Jacob, who was planning to destroy the civilization, by creating swarms of Schistocerca gregaria.
Ghanada had then traveled to the shores of the Bahr-al-Arab, home to the Dinkas, the tallest men on earth, and met Jacob and saved the world.
